Fraud Watch: Fake Online COVID-19 Map

Safeguard Iowa Partnership has been made aware of a malicious website pretending to be the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 global cases map.

Anyone searching the internet for COVID-19 information could unwittingly navigate to the malicious website.

Visiting the fake website infects the user with the AZORult trojan, an information-stealing program that can take a variety of sensitive data. It’s likely being spread via infected email attachments, malicious online advertisements and social engineering.
