Community 1st Credit Union Employee Receives 2026 Champion of the Year Award

Ottumwa, IA –  Community 1st Credit Union is proud to announce that Marian Holmes has been named a recipient of the Iowa Credit Union League’s (ICUL) 2026 Champion of the Year Award. Holmes, who has been with Community 1st Credit Union for nearly 16 years, was recognized for her outstanding commitment to credit union advocacy and her leadership in encouraging others to get involved.

Established in 2023, the peer-nominated award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to credit union advocacy and leadership through ICUL’s Champions Program. Holmes has helped foster a strong culture of advocacy at Community 1st, regularly participating in legislative meetings, Capitol visits, and advocacy events in Iowa and Washington, D.C.

“Marian brings an incredible amount of passion and enthusiasm to credit union advocacy,” said Madison Grady, Director of Government Affairs at ICUL. “She does a great job sharing real-life stories and helping legislators understand the impact credit unions have on their members and communities.”
